“Invisible Knowledge”: Collaborative Art Practice

This two day event focuses on the collaborative work of the leading Irish Live Artist Áine Phillips, showcasing her work with collaborators Alex Chase White (UK), Rachel Davies (UK), Vivienne Dick (Ireland), Spike (UK) and Manuel Vason (Italy/UK). Funded by Culture Ireland and staged by Kingston’s University Visual&  Material Culture Research Centre, the programme features three forms of artistic collaboration: a display of photography and film, a performance by Áine Phillips&  Spike, and a public seminar.

Exhibition 22-23 March 11am-5pm

Featuring: Alex Chase White and Áine Phillips The Lost Runway Kyoto; Rachel Davies and Áine Phillips The Lost Runway Kyoto video (London premiere); Vivienne Dick and Áine Phillips Redress, constructed on Eadweard Muybridge’s “woman dressing” 1887 and referenced to the Irish Redress Board for victims of Institutional abuse in Ireland, photographic prints and 5 minute looped video projection (London premiere); Manuel Vason&  Áine Phillips The Lost Runway London commissioned by the Stanley Picker Gallery in partnership with the Live Art Development Agency as part of Louder than Bombs:Art, Action&  Activism.

Invisible Knowledge / Collaborative Art Practice

A focus on collaborative practice as a form of ‘Invisible Knowledge’ that engages new aspects of the creative self in revelations that happen in the artistic encounter with another. Invited speakers include: Áine Phillips, live art and performance artist, based in Galway, Ireland; Alex Chase White, London based artist, photographer and performance collaborator; Rachel Davies, film maker specialising in dance collaboration; and Carol Mancke, founding director of Machina Loci collaborative research venture crossing between architecture and art, both researchers in the Faculty of Art, Design&  Architecture at Kingston University London.
