Job Title:                                Assistant Professor (Lecturer) 
in Film and Television Studies





Contract Status:            The post will initially be offered on a 
fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China for 
a period of up to 5 years with effect from 1 September 2013. This 
contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.





Hours of Work:                    Full-time





Salary:                       £33,230 - £44,607 per annum depending on 
skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject 
to performance). In addition, an attractive package including 
accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided 
for international appointments.

Nottingham Ningbo, China.





Responsible to:                    The Head of the School of 
International Communications





Job Outline:

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and 
curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, 
play a lead role in collaborative research projects, and conduct ongoing 
original research and publications.

The School of International Communications at The University of 
Nottingham’s campus in mainland China (Ningbo) is seeking to further 
strengthen its dynamic team with the addition of a new specialist in the 
field of film and television studies. The successful candidates will be 
invited to teach on our undergraduate and MA programmes, design discrete 
modules of their own as well as contribute to a range of popular 
undergraduate courses such as media and text, art and cultural policy 
and communications theory.





The School has earmarked the field of film and television studies as an 
area of critical importance for both teaching and research in the 
future. We are expecting to build on the interests of the current 
dynamic team and to make the most of our unique and fruitful research 
environment. We would particularly encourage candidates with a 
specialisation in one of the following areas such as:



    * Film and television theory, critique and analysis, production, 
culture, and/or history
    * Expertise in region-specific film and/or television studies such 
as European film, North American film, and particularly Asian film 
(including anime)
    * Film narrative and storytelling
    * Film and television and the creative industries ' and/or Asian 
television'.
