We are seeking to appoint a Professor in Media with an 
outstanding record in research and teaching, a track record of 
successful bidding and excellent impact. The successful candidate will 
join the Department of Media and Communication Design, which embraces 
media production, journalism, mass communication, media aspects of 
cultural studies, advertising, graphic design, animation, and 
interactive media. We offer exciting inter-disciplinary research 
opportunities across media, visual and interaction design, and cultural 
studies.

You will be expected to lead the development of research within the 
Department and direct research operations with the support from the 
Department's Professors and Readers, and from the Faculty's excellent 
research administration. You will be required to take a lead role in 
developing the research culture of the Department, including the 
development of practice-based research, initiating and participating in 
multi-and inter-disciplinary initiatives within the Department, Faculty 
and across the University.

You will develop and consolidate your existing research interests, make 
a major contribution to the REF; generate research income through bids 
to national research councils and other funding bodies; build and 
strengthen external partnerships; be alert to impact opportunities; and 
contribute generally to the new Department's evolving research culture. 
The successful candidate will develop new postgraduate modules, 
contribute to some undergraduate teaching, and attract and supervise PGR 
students.

Candidates with research interests in Media and Politics, or in New 
Media, would be particularly welcome, but candidates with expertise in 
other media research are also encouraged to apply.
