[ecrea] First CfP of the new Journal SERIES

SERIES

We invite submissions for the first two issues of SERIES, a new
international open access journal on TV serial narratives. The main
focus of the journal is to promote a global discussion forum and an
interdisciplinary exchange among scholars engaged in research into TV
serial narratives. SERIES encourages methodological innovation in
academic research, providing new contributions for a better
understanding of the narrative, technological, economic, social and
cultural impact of TV serial dramas. Articles should deal with
television series, web series and/ or telenovelas. SERIES will publish
each year two issues, a miscellaneous one and a thematic one.
According to that we will welcome submissions on every topic related
to TV serial narratives for our first miscellaneous issue.

In addition SERIES launches too a call for papers for our first
thematic issue:
Possible topics to be included in the different sections of the first
thematic issue are:

Narrative - Aesthetics - Criticism

Cognitive approaches from aesthetics and psychology on emotions in
serial narratives

? Emotional trajectories and plots of serial narratives
? Emotions and the evolution of characters
? Narrative complexity and emotions

Production - Market - Strategies

Production modes and branding strategies for TV series

? The influence of TV branding modes on serial narratives
? Relationships between TV series producers and strategies adopted by
broadcasters (including economies of scale, franchising, syndications)
? The future of branding after the advent of ?over the top? operators such as
Hulu and Netflix in TV series production
? Bottom-up branding strategies for TV series

Culture - Reception - Consumption

? Reception studies on telenovelas and serial Brazilian productions

Geographica

TV series in Brazil

? Essays and reviews on the state of the art of studies on TV series
and telenovelas in Brazil
? General overviews of fictional series in Brazil

If you are interested in this call for papers for a thematic issue,
please send your full manuscript before June 30, 2014. The deadline
for the editorial work (open and peer review process, editing and
improvement of articles if needed, etc.) is November 30, 2014.
Expected publication date of the issue: December 2014. For more
