[ecrea] Invitation to Scotland on TV event 26 November 2013 (Edinburgh)
Tue Nov 05 23:15:49 GMT 2013
Small Screen Scotland | Day Conference 9.00am to 4.00pm
Tuesday 26 November 2013 | Royal Society of Edinburgh
Television has a unique role in putting Scotland on screen: it can span multiple genres and forms - from the natural history documentary, factual or educational series to scripted drama and comedy. And equally importantly, television can make it all totally accessible by appearing on the box in the corner of the living room.
This one-day conference event is part of the wider Year of Natural Scotland film project, and aims to shine a light on the small screen. Invited guests come from broadcasting, programme making, science and education. It is a chance to hear how television has - and can - promote and educate people about Scotland's rich natural heritage, landscapes and biodiversity.
Among the speakers are Professor Aubrey Manning OBE, Emeritus Professor of Natural History at University of Edinburgh; writer& presenter of Earth Story (BBC), Talking Landscapes (BBC), Landscape Mysteries (BBC). Commissioners from BBC Scotland Drama, STV and BBC Alba will also be discussing their current output and requirements.
The event is free but ticketed. To book, visit the event sign up page athttp://smallscreenscotland.eventbrite.com/
