The University of Brighton, UK, is currently inviting proposals from
applicants for a PhD scholarship on the topic "Gothic tropes of haunting
in negotiating violent pasts'
*The Faculty of Arts at the University of Brighton seeks PhD proposals
for research that will explore Gothic tropes of haunting, ghosts, and
the uncanny, as they function in the discourses and texts of cultures
dealing with an unresolved past of violent conflict. We are especially
interested in proposals that draw upon multiple discursive and
disciplinary fields - including Gothic literary analysis, trauma
studies, psychoanalysis, cultural memory and conflict transformation
– with the aim of integrating these into a new interdisciplinary framework.*

Environment and Technology in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, in
collaboration, invite proposals for PhD research that develops cultural
and political theory on the relations between affect, space and
politics, and explores their articulation in a specific site or sites.*
