[ecrea] New critical communication history volume

Mon Sep 26 19:01:28 GMT 2011

We'd like to announce the publication of our new co-edited volume of communication history research that may be of interest.

A Moment of Danger: Critical Studies in the History of U.S. Communication Since World War II (Marquette University Press, 2011) is a collection of critical studies that examine key issues in media and cultural history from World War II to the beginning of the twenty-first century. Featuring contemporary interdisciplinary research on U.S. communication and media history, the essays reveal the complex historical roots of our present media landscape, which is neither as natural nor as democratically derived as the media industries might have us believe. Located at the intersection of media, culture, politics and economics, the book explores those “moments of danger” over the past six decades where the democratic promise of popular communication has collided with structural challenges inherent in a commercial media system.
