Every period wants to be recognized in the philosophy of its time. In addition to reflecting the eternal question of the purpose of human existence, truth, human essence, and so on, each period always brings the specificity which requires of philosophy that “the period enveloped by thought” also be enveloped by that which is current, influential, defining ... We live in a time of media intercession, networking, virtual worlds, a growing impact of mass media on politics, culture, human life, experience, or even opinions as such. We exist in a time when the immersion into the world of the mass media reminds us of the fact the fact that we as human beings throughout history have been determined by some sort of media and that only the modern preoccupation with the (mass) media has given rise to an awareness of (partial or total) oblivion of media intercession, especially during times of oral communication, written and print form. We perceive the philosophy of media as the philosophy of our time, a way of understanding which problematizes the world and discusses essence / being / that which exists – particularly questioning the aspects of their mediation by means of the dominant medium of its time. Therefore, the philosophy of media is philosophy in the original sense of the word, but in its deliberations it is particularly focused on, the historically often forgotten elements of mediation (dance, ritual, speech, language, script) or the association of thought and philosophical attitude, with the ways of mediating that thought. In this sense, the philosophy of media co-opts the scientific research of linguistics, psycholinguistics, media theory, the theory of special art, knowledge of techniques and technologies, research psychology, medicine, phonetics, cultural and visual studies, and other science disciplines, theoretical knowledge and practice experience.

The symposium “The Philosophy of Media” – envisaged as a regular annual symposium – devoted to various specific issues within the philosophy of media, intends to contemplate, critically evaluate and publicly publish the results of scientific, theoretical, and artistic research in the field, in the broadest sense, of the opinions of media, and more specifically to consider the possibility of its problematic founding, and the perception of various dimensions of the philosophy of media, meant as a philosophical realization.
