Call for Papers ABC Europe 2012

Business communication 2.0: More cultures, more languages, more media...

Have these global developments posed challenges in your work or organization? Would you be willing to share your insights and experiences? Would you like more information about the impact these global developments can have on an organization's communication strategy?

Then visit the European conference of the Association for Business Communication (ABC), organized by the department of Communication and Information Sciences (Business Communication Studies) of Radboud University Nijmegen (the Netherlands). The conference will take place in Nijmegen from May 30 - June 2, 2012. The central theme is: "Beyond boundaries - Multicultural, multilingual and multimodal diversity in business communication."

ABC Europe 2012 aims to establish a dialogue between professionals with experience in international business practice and communication scholars dedicated to generating new insights into (the effectiveness of) business communication in practice. Such a dialogue may involve the influence of culture, language (and languages), and (new) media in various communication disciplines, e.g. internal communications, marketing communications, investor relations, CSR communications, PR, crisis communication. The language of communication at the conference will be English.

We cordially invite you to attend not only as a visitor, but as a speaker. In particular, we are looking for business professionals who would be willing to present their perspective on a practice-based communication question or issue in a conference presentation. Are you a communication professional with experience in a medium-sized to large (inter)nationally oriented company or in a multinational? Would you be prepared to share your insights with communication scholars and researchers on a particular communication question or issue you have had to deal with recently? Then let us know.

For more information about ABC Europe 2012 and registration (as a visitor or speaker), see: http://abceurope2012.wordpress.com/. If you would like to give a presentation at the conference, send us an email with your presentation proposal by October 15, 2011 ((abc2012 /at/ let.ru.nl)). The proposal should include a brief summary of your presentation (max. 300 words) and the theme of the communication problem or issue it features.

We sincerely hope to welcome you in Nijmegen in 2012!

On behalf of ABC Europe's organizing committee,
Brigitte Planken
Associate Professor
