The International seminar, TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE INDEPENDENT MUSIC
SECTOR IN THE DIGITAL ERA, attempts to discuss and debate the
undergoing shifts in the popular music industry taking as a turning
point its progressive digitalization (production, distribution,
consumption). Specifically, we will analyze how the changes within this
new technological environment are having an effect on independent modes
of production and distribution channels.

This International seminar will take place on June 27th and 28th, 2011,
in the Facultad de Humanidades, Comunicación y Documentación (Getafe
Campus) at the UC3M. The different conferences and round tables will
feature musicians, journalists, businessmen and national cultural
managers and programmers (Madrid y Barcelona), as well as researchers
from universities in Spain, Brazil and the United Kingdom.

The seminar is open to the public and free of charge. Those interested
in attending need to register in advance.

The event will be transmitted by streaming.

Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Campus Getafe)

El seminario internacional, denominado TRANSFORMACIONES DEL SECTOR
MUSICAL INDEPENDIENTE EN LA ERA DIGITAL, tiene por objetivo exponer y
debatir las mudanzas que se están dando en la industria de la música
popular a partir de su integral digitalización (producción,
distribución, consumo). En particular, se considerará de qué manera los
cambios propiciados por un nuevo entorno tecnológico están afectando a
las producciones y a los canales de distribución independientes.

La realización de este encuentro internacional, que tendrá lugar los
días 27 y 28 de junio de 2011 en la Facultad de Humanidades,
Comunicación y Documentación (Campus de Getafe) de la Universidad
Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), contará con la presencia de creadores
musicales, empresarios y gestores culturales locales, e investigadores
de universidades de España, Brasil y el Reino Unido.

El encuentro es abierto y gratuito para el público en general previa
inscripción. El evento se retransimitirá en streaming a través del
Servicio de Audiovisuales de la UC3M.
