In /Diálogos Interculturais: //Os Novos Rumos da Viagem//
/[/Intercultural Dialogues//: New Directions for the Journey/],
interculturalism is synonymous with mobility, traffic, the dynamics
between cultures. This perpetual motion underlyes the departures and
returns of the /Journey/, the transmission and reception of the
/Dialogues/, without spatial or temporal boundaries, in a dangerous and
stimulant blurring of boundaries.
Contemporary interculturalism (re)builds new identities, surfs on the
internet and travels to destinations which are no longer exotic, as they
become more and more accessible. Interculturality is commodified,
becomes part of the day-to-day experience, takes new directions. New
voices are heard in the intercultural dialogue, as sources of study
until recently marginal: the voices of women; of forgotten stories from
a past that was as intercultural as the present (what is colonialism but
a perverse interculturality?); of global media; of oral narratives; of
fiction, diaries, and epistolography; of art; of new pedagogies and
technologies. But this polyphony of cultures is also likely to create
new conflicts, which pass from the extraordinary to the everyday common
practice.
/Diálogos Interculturais: //Os Novos Rumos da Viagem// /[/Intercultural
Dialogues//: New Directions for the Journey/] brings together authors
from several nationalities and backgrounds, across subjects
traditionally opposed. Rather unusually, this book travels across the
fields of knowledge of Literature, Law, Communication, Sociology,
Teaching and Tourism, among many others, because all these areas provide
texts which can serve as roadmaps for the journey proposed here. This
project proves the dynamics of an international team of researchers, who
are not afraid to depart for destinations unknown, aspiring to create
new maps to guide us all.
