Keynote: ‘Clint Eastwood’s Inscrutable America’

Clint Eastwood is an American monument and his work in cinema is emblematic of five decades of cultural change. As his reputation has grown he has become the subject of increasing scholarly interest, particularly since his later work carries a progressively complex conception of America to international audiences. This two day conference will explore Eastwood’s legacy and achievements and will offer a range of perspectives that explore his contribution to the cultural imagination and to the art of film. Confirmed speakers include Adrian Martin, Frances Bonner, Glen Creeber, Leighton Grist and Alastair Rolls.

Registration is $50 waged, $30 students. For a registration form and details of accommodation options visit the conference website or email Jason Jacobs ((J.Jacobs /at/ uq.edu.au)). Registration closes 10 June 2010.
