[ecrea] Journalism's Next Top Model

Sun May 09 09:32:41 GMT 2010

Journalism’s Next Top Model

A conference organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications, University of Westminster in association with the British Journalism Review

News media all over the world are failing as the traditional revenue from advertising bleeds to the web. Free news websites are discouraging the young from buying newspapers. So who will pay for what sort of journalism in the future?

Following last year’s hugely successful “Journalism in Crisis” the University of Westminster is holding a conference on the future funding of the news industry.

Keynote Speakers

Prof. Robert Picard of “The Media Business”

Industry Panellists include

Richard Hooper – former dep. Chair OFCOM
Claire Enders – Enders Analysis
Roger Parry – former Chair Johnston Press
William Perrin – activist and blogger

Charles Wheeler Award and Memorial Lecture

The conference will conclude with the annual presentation of the Charles Wheeler Award for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcast Journalism, sponsored by The British Journalism Review. Followed by the Memorial Lecture, given by:

Boris Johnson
Mayor of London
