The Department of Sociology is a leading centre 
for research and teaching in Sociology, with a 
large postgraduate cohort as well as 
undergraduate degrees. We have particular 
strengths in criminology, media/ communications, 
human rights, migration, race, ethnicity and 
gender, and social research methods.

We are looking for a scholar in any area of 
Sociology to join us and contribute fully to the 
life and work of the Department. The person 
appointed will be submittable to the REF, engage 
in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate 
levels and contribute to the expansion of the PhD programme.

We have particular teaching needs in criminology 
and research methods, though this should not 
deter well-qualified candidates from any area of Sociology.

The appointee will also be expected to show an 
appropriate degree of enthusiasm, professionalism 
and flexibility and so become an engaged part of what is very much a team.
