Lectureship - Film Studies

University of St Andrews - School of Philosophical, Anthropological & Film Studies

Salary: £36,532 - £44,930 pa

We are seeking a highly motivated scholar, committed to excellence in teaching and research, to join the Department of Film Studies. St Andrews is one of the UK's leading centres for research in Film Studies, receiving an outstanding result in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. The Department, and its PhD programme, was founded in 2004. A new undergraduate programme of joint degrees was successfully launched in 2005, and a postgraduate M.Litt. in Film Studies in 2006.

This position contributes to the long-term growth of the Department, and is created in the context of Professor Dina Iordanova's secondment as Provost of the University.

You will be expected to take on a key role in this dynamic unit in research, teaching and administration. You will have, or be nearing completion of, a PhD in Film Studies (or a cognate discipline). Your research is expected to contribute significantly to the Department's strong research culture. We are open to applicants with expertise in any area within the field, and would particularly welcome expertise in transnational or world cinemas. Experience of teaching/supervision and evidence of administrative competence are also essential attributes of the position.

This lectureship will be available from 1 September 2010 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Informal enquiries to Professor Robert Burgoyne, Head of Department, via email ((rjb21 /at/ st-andrews.ac.uk)), or to Professor Dina Iordanova ((di1 /at/ st-andrews.ac.uk)).
