The Humanities Programme and the Creative and Professional Writing
Programme invite applications for several fully funded PhD positions for
the 2026–2027 academic year. Successful candidates will receive support

*Programme Background:*
Hong Kong Baptist University boasts a history of over 60 years. The
Humanities programme was founded in 1990 and later joined with the newly
established B.A. (Hons) in Creative Writing in 2012. This collaboration
is unique, traversing several major areas of intellectual interest,
including cultural studies, creative writing practice, media and film
studies, literary studies, and gender and sexuality studies (see
Research Areas section below for more). Our current PhD students come
from around the world and pursue research in fields such as literary
studies, media and film studies, creative industry, and gender studies.
We welcome original proposals from students with excellent academic
records and international exposure. Our diverse faculty provides
cross-disciplinary teaching and supervision, emphasising close
teacher–student relationships, international opportunities, and overseas

*About the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS):*
The HKPFS is designed to attract outstanding students from around the
world to pursue PhD studies in Hong Kong. The fellowship provides:
* A competitive annual stipend for 3 years (approximately US$43,690
per year)
* Conference and research travel allowance
*Eligibility:*
* Applicants of all nationalities are welcome
* Outstanding academic performance, research ability, and leadership
potential
*Research Areas:*
The department particularly welcomes applicants interested in the
following areas:
* Creative Writing
* Cultural Studies
* Visual Cultural Studies
* Media Studies
* Queer Studies
* Care Studies
* Health Humanities
* Environmental Humanities
