Research Associate (f/m/d) wanted as part of the “Communicative AI”
research group
The University of Bremen is seeking to fill a position at the Center for
Media, Communication, and Information Research (ZeMKI) starting no
earlier than January 1, 2026, as a Research Associate (f/m/d) Pay grade
13 TV-L, full-time (39.2 hours per week), limited to 36 months (in
accordance with § 2 WissZeit VG) for the development of software for
communication and media research.
Job description
The position is part of the innovative team at ComAI Research Space in
Research Group 5656 “Communicative AI: The Automation of Social
Communication,” which is funded by the DFG and the FWF. The team is
based in the research group’s coordination project (project
participants: Prof. Dr. Andreas Hepp, Prof. Dr. Wiebke Loosen, Prof. Dr.
Christian Katzenbach, Prof. Dr. Cornelius Puschmann, Dr. Gregor Wiedemann).
The research group is investigating how social communication is changing
with communicative AI. The focus of the first funding phase (2025–2028)
is on investigating the emergence and construction of communicative AI.
The research focuses on pioneering communities of communicative AI,
their interfaces, the legal handling of communicative AI and its
governance by companies, the appropriation of communicative AI in
journalism, in public (online) discourse, in everyday personal life, in
the health sector, and in learning and teaching. The research uses
highly innovative methods from the social sciences and HCI, including
digital and computer-assisted methods. Further information on the
