The PhD will contribute to research in the field of sustainability of
live music events to promote green practices, measure and reduce carbon
footprints (by proposing an adapted carbon calculator), and setting
industry-wide sustainability standards. This research will propose a

consider any challenges the roll out of this might encounter. This
research will build upon Liverpool’s status as the first UN Accelerator

The successful candidate may have a background in climate and
sustainability studies / climate and sustainability management or music
and live event management and will be interested in climate change,
music and live events. They will be familiar with the concept of carbon
calculation and be committed to carbon reduction. They will have the
following skillsets and capabilities; independent thinker, able to work
independently and as part of a team, with an understanding of systems
thinking. The candidate should be comfortable working across
disciplines, and with external stakeholders. Experience in the use of
qualitative and/or quantitative research methods is desirable.
This is an opportunity to make a difference working on a pathway to
more sustainable music events in a city that is synonymous with music
and in the year that Liverpool is the first UN Accelerator city.
We are seeking PhD applicants with a minimum of a 2.1 degree. You should
