[Commlist] RadioDoc Review Editor vacancy

Mon Jun 30 20:35:40 GMT 2025

*/RadioDoc Review/ is looking for a new Co-Editor, to start January 2026 for a period of three years.* /RadioDoc Review/ is an open access, peer reviewed scholarly journal that recently celebrated its tenth birthday. It is the only journal dedicated to the rich culture of audio documentaries, narrative podcasts, audio features and other examples of the crafted factual form around the world. The successful applicant will join an international editorial board of eminent scholars and programme-makers, and work with the editorial team (a Co-Editor, Assistant Editor and two Editorial Assistants) to publish two issues a year (spring and autumn). The journal publishes a mix of double anonymous peer reviewed scholarly articles, and audio reviews and other short articles that go through in-house 'editorial review.' We are a small and relatively new journal; our authors are a mix of academics and documentary makers, and we encourage and support PhD and early career researchers as well as practitioners, so one of the key jobs of the Co-Editor is to elicit contributions from well-known and new writers and to guide new writers through the review and publication process. The Co-Editors will coordinate the Editorial Team, manage submissions through the online publishing system, finding and liaising with peer reviewers, delegating as appropriate the work of the Assistant Editor and Editorial Assistants in the copy editing, proof reading and typesetting stages, liaise with the Editorial Board and promote the work of the journal, so it can reach the widest audience and enrich not only the study of radio and podcasting but encourage quality and innovation in new audio work. Being part of the /RadioDoc Review/ family offers experience of journal publishing and academic leadership, and is a great way to find a place in an international and very supportive and friendly group of academics and programme-makers, who are all passionate about radio and podcasting, its research and teaching. You can read more about the journal and its current team on our website https://www.uowoajournals.org/rdr/ <https://www.uowoajournals.org/rdr/> *Please send a CV and an expression of interest in the form of a short (max 500 word) statement by 30 Sept 2025 to (radiodocreview /at/ gmail.com). The statement should explain your interest in this role, which can include how it could benefit you in your career, and the relevant skills, knowledge, interests and experience that you would bring.* Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an informal online meeting with the board Oct/Nov 2025 at a mutually convenient date and time and will be notified of the outcome shortly after.
We look forward to hearing from other passionate audiophiles!
Best wishes,
Siobhan McHugh (Founding Editor), Abigail Wincott and Aasiya Lodhi (Co-Editors)
