The Communication and Media Studies Department at Washington College is hiring a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor to begin in the Fall 2025 semester. _*Description*_

The Communication and Media Studies (CMS) Department at Washington College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a specialization in Film, Television, and Popular Culture to begin in August 2025. The expected teaching load is three courses per semester, taught in person, with the option for additional teaching in the summer. Teaching responsibilities may vary by semester but will include core courses in the major (including Introduction to CMS, Communication and Media Theory, and Qualitative Methods in CMS), courses based on the candidate’s expertise, and the possibility to contribute to the college’s first year seminar program. The ideal candidate will also be able to expand our applied course offerings in multimedia writing and production. In addition to working in the classroom, faculty members are expected to advise senior capstone projects and to engage in departmental and college-level service. We are particularly interested in candidates who show a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring and who engage in creative, experiential, and innovative teaching practices.

The CMS Program is committed to an equitable and inclusive learning environment and supports Washington College’s ongoing efforts toward inclusive excellence. The CMS curriculum is built on a critical-cultural foundation focused on developing students’ critical media literacy and multimedia communication skills in a liberal arts setting.
