Full Time Tenure Track Position in Communications and Media Studies

John Cabot University, an English language-based, American, regionally 
accredited four-year liberal arts college in Rome, Italy, seeks a 
full-time Communications and Media Studies professor for a two-year 
appointment with possibility for tenure. Level of appointment depends on 
the candidate’s background.

The candidate should have a terminal degree, PhD and/or MFA, completed 
by the start date of September 1, 2023. They should be able to teach 
courses using critical and cultural studies approaches in one or more of 
the following: digital media, global media, media and cultural theory, 
film and television, visual culture, popular culture studies, and 
industry structure and practices. Priority will be given to applicants 
that demonstrate experience and strength in their ability to bridge 
teaching diverse core courses in the program and critical media 
practices in both the studies and the production curriculum, such as 
multimedia production and writing for the media (special consideration 
will be given for maker-scholars and expertise in sound arts).

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in a liberal arts U.S. 
university program. A strong commitment to teaching students from 
diverse cultural and national backgrounds and experience in working in a 
multicultural environment is also a requirement.

Teaching load is six courses per year and administrative work is expected. 

The applicant must possess valid EU working documents in Italy at the 
time of application. JCU cannot sponsor candidates for working visas in 
Italy for this position.
