Position Details

Faculty Rank: Open Rank (Tenure Track)

Contract Type: Academic (9 mo.)

Tenure Status: Tenure Track or Tenured

Minimum Qualifications: A PhD in Mass Communication, Media Studies or related field.
Position Summary: The Department of Entertainment and Media Studies 
seeks to fill one position for a teacher and scholar of media visual 
entertainment. Appointment will either be at the Assistant tenure-track 
level or at the Associate level with tenure. The faculty member will 
teach four courses a year on an academic appointment (nine months). 
Mentoring of graduate students and direction of theses and 
dissertations, and service on department, college and university 
committees is expected.
Additional Requirements: If a candidate is hired at the Assistant 
Professor level, they are eligible for reappointment. Candidates 
applying at the Associate level with tenure should meet the tenure 
expectations of that rank at a Research I institution.  For more

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or 
Certification: Evidence is required of a publication record commensurate 
with rank applied for.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Preferred 
research emphases include but are not limited to post-broadcast 
television, diversity, intersectionality, and/or social movements.

letter describing academic qualifications and professional experience, 
showing how a candidate will add value to the program. The cover letter 
should indicate the rank the candidate is applying for. Furthermore, 
applicants should show how their teaching, service and research have 
supported the success of students from racial, ethnic and gender 
backgrounds that are underrepresented in the film and entertainment 
industries. Applicants who may not yet have had that experience should 
explain how their work will further the College’s commitment to
