  PhD Scholarship:_Media Power in An Age of Digital Platforms_at the
  University of Sydney

*Explore the conceptual, methodological and policy implications for the study of media power and media concentration*

*of digital platforms as key communications gatekeepers for the production and distribution of media content.*

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with a leading global team of researchers. TheGlobal Media and internet Concentration (GMIC) Project <https://carleton.ca/fpa/2021/sshrc-partnership-grant-global-media-and-internet-concentration-gmic-project/>involves over 50 researchers from 40 countries, who are examining the question of whether media concentration is increasing in their countries, and how digital platforms are changing the parameters of what we understand to be media concentration.

This scholarship provides the following benefits to a full-time enrolled student:

  * stipend allowance of $(AUS)35,629 per annum for up to 3.5 years
  * Student Services Amenities Fee (SSAF) for up to 14 research periods
  * 100% tuition fees for up to 14 research periods (international
    students only)
  * Single Overseas Health Cover (OSHC) for up to 55 months
    (international students only)

If the student is enrolled part-time and approved to hold the scholarship on a part-time basis they will recieve the stipend allowance at 50% of the full-time rate and the other scholarship benefits for the equivalent full-time duration.
