We want passionate practitioners who can inspire the next generation of
journalists to join us in the School of Media and Performing Arts at a
particularly exciting time. We are a vibrant creative community
providing award winning opportunities to UG and PG students of film and
photography, music and acting, digital and immersive media as well as
Journalism and Media Communications.
Coventry is hosting a year long series of international events as the
City of Culture, and in 2022 a brand new, state of the art University
building will host the Faculty of Arts and Humanities enabling us to
push the boundaries of collaboration and innovation in our teaching,
research and enterprise.
As we develop new courses and activities we are seeking to appoint an
energetic and adaptable journalist with experience of teaching and
learning in HE and a great track record in industry. Your hands on
experience in a broadcast newsroom would be particularly valuable. As
would experience in sports journalism. Other journalistic specialisms
are also welcome. You need to be passionate about education and
employability and able to develop industry focussed opportunities that
enhance the student experience.
Applicants should either have a significant track record of high profile
industry experience and degree level and professional qualifications OR
they should have a PhD.
Alongside teaching and learning, successful applicants will also need to
demonstrate an ability to contribute to research or scholarship, and /or
enterprise through their academic or industry experience in the subject
area. Those without a teaching qualification will need to undertake
Coventry University’s PGCHE training and / or gain HEA fellowship.
