Main Purpose of the Post



The fast-growing Media & Communication department at Swansea University is looking to appoint a Lecturer in Public Relations to help develop and expand its teaching and research portfolios. The department seeks someone with an established research record, able to demonstrate contribution to the development of critical theory and empirical research in public relations. With a proven record of securing external funding, the successful candidate will work with the department’s team of inter-disciplinary media and communication researchers who combine social science based research with a humanities perspective. We are looking for someone with the motivation and capability to make a significant contribution to the research culture of the department.



In addition to research expertise, the department is specifically looking for an experienced and successful public relations teacher able to deliver public relations theory and practice teaching, as well as supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students. We are particularly interested in candidates with industry experience, who can engage students with learning about the latest public relations techniques and build networks with industry. We are looking for an inspirational team-player who can contribute to the University and Department’s ambitions to be at the forefront of digitally-enhanced learning, helping to build on the Department’s excellent student experience record.

1. A PhD in a relevant subject area or equivalent professional qualification.

2. Recognised teaching qualification that would lead to Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or a commitment to achieve this
