[Commlist] Job opportunity: Senior Research Associate at the University of East Anglia

Applications are invited for the post of Post-Doctoral Research
Associate to collaborate with Prof. Alan Finlayson and Dr. Robert
Topinka on the project “Political Ideology, Rhetoric and Aesthetics in
the Twenty-First Century: The Case of the the ‘Alt-Right’” which is
funded through an AHRC Grant. The project aims to develop and extend our
understanding of the ways in which contemporary politics and ideology
are being transformed by digital media culture. The project will combine
research into digital media with research in the history and theory of
political ideologies, political rhetoric and social theory so as to make
sense of the complex and mutually affecting interactions of technology,
aesthetic style, political thought and language.
The successful applicant will be involved in the organisation and
management of the project and play a full role in the research.
The research will be based at the University of East Anglia in the
School of Politics, Philosophy, Language and Communication Studies.
Essential requirements for this post include a relevant postgraduate
research degree (for example in politics, rhetoric or media studies),
evidence of experience of independent research with the potential to
lead to academic publications, and evidence of project management
skills. The successful candidate will meet all the essential criteria

This full-time post is available from 25 January 2021 on a fixed-term
basis to 31 July 2021.
