This position requires a Ph.D. in Communication (awarded by August 2020); an active scholarly agenda; and demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduates in both general and specialized areas of communication with a variety of effective teaching methodologies. We seek a colleague who is actively engaged in communication research that allows for the inclusion of undergraduate student collaborators, enthusiastic about interdisciplinary approaches, and eager to contribute to a liberal arts-based program and a broader community of undergraduates. We also seek faculty who wish to explore the relationships among disciplines with shared interests in public discourse, human interaction, and modes of cultural production.

Courses will include (1) rhetorical theory and criticism, (2) rhetoric, culture, and identity, and other courses based on program needs. In addition to supporting our major and minors, teaching assignments may include courses for the University’s General Education Curriculum, including First-Year Seminars and Junior Seminars. Other responsibilities include participation in directing Senior Projects (required of all majors) and student advising. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for the highest quality of teaching, combined with the ability to produce rigorous peer-reviewed academic scholarship. Scholarly activity leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals and service to the Department, the College of Arts and Sciences, the University, and the profession are required.
