Lecturer in Strategic Communication
The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the New College of 
Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU) is 
seeking a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure-track Lecturer in 
Communication to teach in both the on-campus undergraduate and graduate 
programs. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in 
strategic communication. Teaching loads for these positions are 
typically 12 credits per semester (a 4/4 load), with the possibility of 
summer teaching.

The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences is presently in a period of 
expansion and innovation around new initiatives including strategic 
communication. This position would bring expertise and practical 
experience to the curriculum in the areas of public relations, 
electronic communication, and strategic communication. This faculty 
member would teach both traditional and developing strategies for 
designing, deploying, assessing, and critiquing strategic communication.

Required Qualifications: The successful candidate must: a) have a 
doctoral degree in Communication or a related field by the time of 
appointment; and, b) a record reflecting experience teaching at the 
postsecondary level in communication.

Desired Qualifications: a) educational background in strategic 
communication, b) secondary strength in electronic communication and 
communication campaigns, c) ability to contribute to the advocacy and 
strategic communication components of the nationally-recognized CommLab 
ASU; d) experience mentoring students; e) evidence of teaching 
excellence; and, f) experience working successfully with a diverse 
student population, including first generation and non-traditional 
students. g) experience in and skill with addressing issues of equality 
in the classroom; and h) experience in and/or willingness to engage with 
culturally responsive teaching in communication and its importance to 
students' lives, interests, and communities
