ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF COMMUNICATION DESIGN
The School of Communications at Elon University invites applications
for a tenure-track assistant or associate professor position focusing
on communication design with an effective start date of August 2020.
We seek an outstanding teacher with a Ph.D. or M.F.A. and professional
experience to join our school’s 67 full-time teacher-scholar-mentors.
Candidates must have previous teaching and professional experience in
design, particularly using analytics to inform design and writing,
multicultural communication, and graphic design with web and mobile

a terminal degree and a track record of peer-reviewed scholarship. The
tenure-track process involves six years at rank, but may be shortened
by up to two years for those with full-time university teaching
experience.
Teaching assignments may include courses in visual communication,

strategies, and elective courses, as well as core courses in the
school and the Elon Core Curriculum. Candidates who have experience
working with a diverse range of people and who can contribute to the
climate of inclusivity are encouraged to describe their experiences in
their cover letter. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, other
courses assigned could support the school’s other undergraduate
majors, graduate programs and the university core curriculum.
