[Commlist] Fellowship Opportunity 2019 / Charlemagne Prize Foundation

Mon Aug 26 15:14:28 GMT 2019

The Charlemagne Prize Foundation (/Stiftung Internationaler Karlspreis zu Aachen/) is currently establishing a Charlemagne Prize Academy, which is supposed to present a new opportunity for university graduates and early-stage researchers to expand their own network, to implement individual research projects and to publish innovative thoughts.

In course of that, we would like to announce its *new Fellowship Programme*, which aims to support innovative research ideas in the context of _‘*Europe’s Responsibilities in Global Progress’* <https://www.charlemagneprizeacademy.com/en/fellowship-programme/our-focus-2019>_. The programme is aimed at graduates, as well as at staff of scientific or political institutions and young professionals up to the age of 35, who wish to conduct a one-year research project with European relevance, independent of subject, political agenda or citizenship. The support refers to an annual grant of 25,000 €, as well as academic mentoring and regular networking events. The research can be carried out in cooperation with an institution, but also without institutional commitment at a preferred location.

The aim of the fellowship is to promote the topics of young talents and to create a platform for a common exchange with European and international decision-makers. Therefore, the Fellowship is connected with a prospective Summit and is linked to the main activities of the Charlemagne Prize Foundation through the patronage of previous Charlemagne Prize Laureates.

The application portal will be open until Sunday, 22 September 2019. Applicants will be informed about the selection outcome by the end of October, right after 5 candidates have been selected by an independent committee. The Fellowship will start with the Kick-Off Summit of the Charlemagne Prize Academy in November and will finish with the presentation of the research outcomes during a similar event the following year, also including a joint publication. All further information can be found *_here. <https://www.charlemagneprizeacademy.com/en/>_*

Though the application period is very short this year, we are looking forward to receive innovative and interesting research proposals, including a brief definition of the proposed research question and three possible milestones that could be reached during the year.

/The International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen has been awarded to individuals and institutions that have made a valuable contribution to Europe since 1950 and is the oldest and most renowned prize awarded for work done in the service of European unification. As its latest project, the Charlemagne Prize Academy is part of a distinctive development of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen with the goal to promote exchange concerning political issues and to provide information about the existing data with the intention to connect new findings with the concerns of our time./
