Four Doctoral Fees-Only Bursaries in Humanities

The College of Arts, Humanities and Education invites applications for 
four Fees-Only-Bursaries in the subject area of Humanities. Subject to 
satisfactory progress, each bursary holder’s fees will be fully covered 
at a UK/EU level.

Proposals will be accepted for any project that takes advantage of 
existing research expertise in the Department of Humanities in the areas 
of American Studies, English and Creative Writing, History, Journalism 
and Media and Communications.

In offering these bursaries the University aims to further develop its 
proven research strengths in Humanities. It is an excellent opportunity 
for a candidate of exceptional promise to contribute to a stimulating 
research environment.



Principal Accountabilities

    To undertake research and scholarly activity associated with their 
PhD programme and develop a publication record in Humanities
    To support departmental and College Research Centre research activities

These are Doctoral Bursaries, and the successful candidates will 
undertake a full time traditional route PhD programme.  The start date 
is 15 May 2017 or soon thereafter. On this occasion the bursaries are 
available only to applicants assessed as being UK/EU for fees 
assessment. Fees will be covered at a UK/EU level.  Funding will be 
awarded for a period of up to three years subject to satisfactory progress.
