Lecturer in Media Studies, School of English, Film, Theatre, and Media 
Studies

The School of English, Film, Theatre, and Media Studies at Victoria 
University of Wellington invites applications for a permanent position 
for a Lecturer in Media Studies, to begin in February 2017. The 
appointee will have the opportunity to contribute to a vibrant programme 
in Media Studies at Victoria, and to other academic and creative 
communities in Wellington, Aotearoa/New Zealand.

The Media Studies Programme aims to appoint a dynamic junior scholar who 
complements the current staff’s expertise and who can contribute to 
teaching and research in one or more of the following areas: popular 
culture; media and creative industries; and interactive media. The 
ability to teach large introductory courses is essential.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Media Studies or closely 
related field, a record of scholarly productivity, and the capacity to 
teach a broad range of introductory and advanced Media Studies courses, 
as well as supervise MA and PhD candidates.

Applications should include a letter of interest addressing teaching and 
research goals and a curriculum vitae with the name of three referees. A 
writing sample, teaching evaluations, and a research plan will be 
required for the next phase of the process but can be submitted initially.
