*LEHIGH UNIVERSITY *
The Department of Journalism & Communication invites applications for a
tenure-track assistant professor position dedicated to research and
teaching in *community journalism* with particular emphasis on Latino
communities.
In collaboration with the Latin American Studies program, we seek a
teacher and scholar who has the background, interests and skills to
effectively engage the scholarly community as well as our students and
the citizens of our distinctive locale, the predominantly Latino South
Side. An ability to teach professional classes in reporting and editing
is strongly preferred. The candidate should have relevant professional
experience. Ph.D. is required by appointment start date.
The candidate will teach two courses per semester, advise students,
participate in departmental and program service, and conduct an active
research program. Upper-level classes likely would cross list with Latin
American Studies. Salary and benefits are highly competitive.
The Department of Journalism & Communication has offered a small
undergraduate program of superior quality since 1927. Alumni are in the
top ranks of American journalism. It has seven full-time faculty. With
major and minor programs in journalism, science and environmental
writing, and mass communication, the department enrolls about 100 majors
and minors. Latin American Studies is a growing program that offers an
undergraduate minor, Pre-doctoral/Postdoctoral Fellowships, and a Latin
American film series and lecture series. Participating faculty are drawn
from throughout the college. More information can be found at:
