[ecrea] Principal Lecturer in Digital Media at University of Roehampton

Wed May 11 22:40:34 GMT 2016

Applications are invited for a full-time, Principal Lectureship in Digital Media at the University of Roehampton. The post-holder will play a leading role in the Department of Media, Culture and Language. A central part of this role will be as the quality ‘link tutor’ for the Department’s growing collaborative relationship with QA, which is one of the UK’s leading IT training providers. QA currently delivers a BSc (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions and is about to launch a BA (Hons) Computing with Foundation degree, validated by the University of Roehampton. This role therefore involves oversight of this partnership in accordance with the regulations and requirements of the University, and development of a strong professional relationship with colleagues at QA. In addition, the post holder will be expected to develop and lead on a new portfolio of programmes for the Department that will prepare students for careers as digital media creatives in the creative industries. It is anticipated that the post-holder will have strong links to the creative industries themselves, and will be able to develop academic degree programmes with a strong focus on employability.

As a Principal Lecturer, you will have a solid background in learning and teaching, course development and quality assurance in higher education. Both in the Department and with QA, you will be overseeing areas such as annual review, periodic review, assessment and examination boards in line with the regulations and requirements of the University, as well as promoting University learning and teaching enhancement initiatives and helping to develop new collaborative programmes with our partners in the digital media area. The post holder will contribute to building a national and international profile for the Department, with a clear mission to deliver excellence in teaching and learning, employable graduates and world-class research.

We are seeking applications from candidates who are creative, committed, entrepreneurial and ambitious, with a PhD and relevant professional experience. They will be able to work positively with the Head of Department and other academic colleagues, contributing to building a national and international profile for the Department with a clear mission to deliver employable graduates and world-class research. Roehampton offers an excellent research environment and strong support for research active staff including generous research allowance, conference support, research grant application support, mentoring and sabbatical.

The University of Roehampton is the best modern university in London according the Complete University Guide 2015, the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015 and the Guardian University Guide 2016. It has a beautiful parkland campus, located in the heart of south-west London, and offers excellent facilities for staff and students.
