The *School of Professional Communication*

invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment at the rank of
Assistant Professor in*Communication Studies*. The position will
commence July 1, 2016 (subject to budgetary approval). Candidates will
hold a PhD in Professional Communication, Communication Studies, or in
a related field or be ABD with a defense date set.
Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to upholding the values
of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service,
teaching, and scholarly, research and creative activities.

We are interested in a range of possible subfields, including but not
limited to integrated communications, public relations, advertising,
organizational communication, algorithm and platform studies,
information analysis and design, knowledge mobilization, emerging
technologies of persuasion, and social change and transformation. The
ideal candidate will bring strong methodological skills in areas that
might include quantitative, qualitative, or textual analysis.

Applicants should also have demonstrated expertise in one or more of
the following areas—Rhetoric, Linguistics, Communication Theory,
Design Theory, Discourse Analysis, Semiotics, Critical Media
Studies—as related to professional communication. The successful
candidate will be expected to teach a variety of communication courses
at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

The successful candidate should demonstrate evidence of high-quality
teaching, a strong research profile and an emerging scholarly and/or
creative record, as well as the capacity for collegial service.

vitae, two recent samples of scholarly publishing and/or creative
work, results of teaching surveys (or equivalent evidence such as a
teaching dossier), and be supported by three letters of reference.
