TheDepartment invites applications foratenure-track position in
time-based mediapractices by artists whosework demonstrates
aversatilityin combiningmovingimagesor still images with sound,
engagewith theexpandingfield of artisticpracticesand situations, and
havebeen showcased in venues rangingfromrecognizedgalleries to
filmfestivals, aswellas non- traditional venues with diverseaudiences.

Weseek applicants withaconceptuallydriven artistic practicethat
demonstrates afoundational knowledgeof film and photographic
techniquesand experimental film traditions, as wellas an
activeengagement with continuallyevolvingdigital technologies.
Preferences willbegiven to artists whoseinterestsincludean
integrativeapproach to media, particularlyin relation to installation
and studio practices.

Theposition entails fosteringstudents’creativityin the production
ofmedia, makinguseof both new and historicapproaches. Teaching
responsibilities will be primarilyin theMedia Majorand Minors ofthe
Visual Arts department, whosecurriculum is constantlyadjustingto
evolving production tools and in its newincarnation startingin September
2016 isaimingat creating collaborations with othermajors in
thedepartmentand in other programs. Courses willinclude
intermediateandadvanced undergraduate production techniques classes,and
also might include lower-or upper-divisionlecturecourses, undergraduate
critiqueand projectcourses andgraduate seminars in theory, critique,
projects and / or production.

TheMedia program is housed in the Visual Arts Department which offers
undergraduate and graduate degrees in ArtHistory, Theoryand Criticism,
includingaPhD inArt Historywith a concentration in Art Practice, as
wellas undergraduate programs in Studio,Media,
InterdisciplinaryComputing, and Speculative Design.Facultyareexpectedto
advise, work with, and serveon thecommittees of MFA students in allareas
andalso work with and serveon the committees of PhD students.
