[ecrea] Job opening: Director of Center for Media, Data and Society at CEU`s SPP

The *Center for Media, Data and Society* (CMDS) <http://cmds.ceu.edu/>at
the School of Public Policy (SPP) <http://spp.ceu.edu/>of Central
European University (CEU) <http://www.ceu.edu/> is seeking to appoint a
*Director

who will further develop the Center's vision and profile and extend its
network and scope of activities. The Director will lead the Center,
working to improve ways in which the Center contributes to the life of
SPP and CEU, strengthening ties and creating opportunities for
collaboration. The ideal candidate will bring fundraising and project
development experience to the extensive portfolio of the Center and be
committed to advancing the mission of
the Center, SPP, and CEU.
Review of applications will begin on *November 15* and continue until
the position is filled.
*Key Responsibilities:*

    ● Develop projects for the Center with the involvement of CMDS
    researchers and faculty;
    ● Develop and implement a fundraising strategy for the Center,
    leading fundraising efforts to raise significant core funding, grow
    the Center's resources, and diversify its funding base;
    ● Oversee the Center's day to day activities (including research and
    events);
    ● Oversee CMDS internal and external communication;
    ● Advance the Center’s role within SPP and CEU, liaising with SPP
    and CEU senior leadership;
    ● Represent the Center at public events, and at meetings with
    internal and external partners;
    ● Maintain and develop the extensive CMDS network of experts,
    academics, activists, policy makers, and journalists.


*The ideal candidate will:*


    ● Have a strong record of professional experience, preferably in an
    academic, civil society, NGO or donor setting;
    ● Have significant experience in project management,project
    development, and fundraising;
    ● Hold a post-graduate degree (MA or equivalent, or higher) in
    communication, media studies, political science, sociology, policy
    studies, journalism, law, or a related field;
    ● Have an active research portfolio that has earned international
    recognition;
    ● Be able to contribute with distinction to one or more of the
    following curricular areas: Technology and Society; Transnational
    Communication and Global Media; Social and Digital Media; Fundamental
    Communication Rights; Information and Knowledge Economies; Internet
    Governance;Civic Media; Media, Information and Communication Policy;
    Comparative Media Institutions; Journalism; or Media Development,
    among others;
    ● Be a dynamic leader who can strengthen the intellectual and
    professional development of the Center;
    ● Demonstrate a commitment to research and scholarship contributing
    to the development and sustainability of open societies;
    ● Have strong organizational, analytical, and network building skills;
    ● Have a high level of initiative and creativity;
    ● Have a strong knowledge of various current public policy issues,
    key debates, actors, and approaches.
