[ecrea] Full Professor in Media Studies - Department for the Study of Culture at the University of Southern Denmark

The Department for the Study of Culture at the University of Southern Denmark invites applications for a Full Professor in Media Studies beginning November 1st 2015. Successful applicants will demonstrate committed excellence in research, teaching and leadership in the areas of media convergence, that is the interaction of media technologies, modes of representation, services and uses. We seek candidates who will be able to provide leadership in research and curriculum development to help foster a thriving media studies programme.

The successful candidate is expected to

- contribute to the research strengths of the media studies programme including directing and conducting top research that is published in leading international outlets - expand the media studies programme’s national and international research connections in the field of convergent media studies - generate substantial external research funding from national and international funding bodies - provide intellectual and pedagogical leadership in curriculum development, including online and blended coursework delivery - teach new and existing courses in media studies at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels - develop and maintain effective collaborations within the University, across the academic field and with external stakeholders
- contribute to effective academic administration.

Qualifications:

- a PhD degree in media studies or closely aligned field
- a distinguished body of scholarship and publications
- a proven ability to develop and direct externally funded (international) research projects - a relevant international network providing a solid base for acquiring international research funding - an excellent track-record of teaching, advising and assessment including large scale lectures and intensive forms of small group teaching and counselling - the capacities to act as a genuine mentor and leader in a collegial and flexible manner - a strong track-record of performing managerial roles and administrative duties - proficiency in spoken and written English. Non-English speakers have to meet the C1-standards of the Common European Framework (CEF). International applicants are expected to acquire the Danish language within two years.

Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.

As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, an interview may be applied.

Appointment to this position may also include teaching obligations in regard to related degree programs.

Employment shall be on the terms specified in the labour market agreement and the salary shall correspond to LR 37 (pay bracket 37) annually DKK 527.889 plus pension (1st April 2012 level). To this must be added a non-pension-qualifying supplement of DKK 52.070 (1st April 2012 level) from the executive pool.
