POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: PROFESSOR IN JOURNALISM AT UNIVERSITY OF GOTHENBURG

The Department of journalism, media and communication at University of 
Gothenburg, Sweden, announces the position of a Full Professor in 
Journalism (full time, permanent position). The Department of 
Journalism, Media and Communication (JMG) is one of the country’s 
leading universities within both education and research in the field of 
journalism and media. JMG has approximately 500 students at basic and 
advanced levels, and approximately 60 employees. The person who is 
offered the position of Professor is expected to take a leading role in 
the development of the department’s research, which entails the 
employee’s own research, project management and international research 
collaboration, development of the department’s postgraduate education, 
as well as supervision of postgraduate students. Comprehensive research 
activity with a strong international focus is a requirement for 
appointment to this position. It is also required that the applicant 
have leadership skills, demonstrated through experience of leadership 
positions, for instance leading research projects or serving as director 
of studies, department head or other qualified leadership roles. The 
ability to teach in English or Swedish is a requirement. If the 
applicant´s native language is not Swedish, he/she is expected to have 
acquired sufficient language ability within two years to be able to 
function in a Swedish-speaking teaching environment.
