*Assistant Professor in Digital Journalism*

The Centre for Journalism at the University of Southern Denmark is expanding rapidly these years, and we now seek an assistant professor in Digital Journalism to join our faculty in August 2013 for a three-year period. The Centre for Journalism has close to 600 journalism students, a faculty of about 30 people and several different study programmes (Bachelor, Master, professional master, PhD etc.). The centre is part of the Department of Political Science and Public Management, where researchers with backgrounds ranging from political science to journalism work closely together.

The following will be emphasized in the assessment of the applicants:

   * The applicant must hold a PhD degree and have done his/her PhD
     work within the field of journalism, communication, media studies
     or related fields.
   * Knowledge of how digitalization affects news organizations in
     general and news reporting in particular.
   * Experience with a multitude of different approaches to the study
     of digital journalism.

The main assignments of an assistant professor at the centre are research and research-based teaching, and to a minor extent administrative tasks will be connected to the position.

The successful candidate is required to teach within the existing study programmes of the department. The main teaching task will be courses related to digital journalism. Applicants are expected to possess experience with teaching, and as an assistant professor improve these teaching qualifications by completing the Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Programme.

As an assistant professor, you will have to develop an international research profile. The preferred applicants will have the potential to build national and international research connections as well as publish genuine academic contributions through peer-reviewed publication channels within the relevant field of research.

The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic research and teaching environment. The department expects the successful candidate to contribute positively to the academic and social environment at the department. *Application, salary, etc.*

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and in accordance with the job description for instructors and academic personnel at institutions of higher education.

   * Information on teaching experience and qualifications
   * Certificates/Diplomas (Master and PhD degree)
   * Complete list of publications, indicating which publications are
     most relevant for the position
   * Up to 5 of the most relevant publications. Please upload a pdf for
     each publication, if the publication has been co-authored,
     co-author statements must be a part of this pdf
   * Research and publication plan in a three-year perspective (no more
     than three pages)

Applications will be assessed by an expert committee. When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicants will receive the part of the assessment relevant to their own application.

The committee may request the inclusion of further material, in which case it lies with the applicant to submit the necessary material. The committee reserves the right to arrive at a decision solely based on the material submitted.

Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above requirements will not be assessed by the committee.
