MEDIA STUDIES - ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / SENIOR LECTURER

The School of Literature and Language Studies, soon to be renamed School 
of Literature, Language and Media (SLLM) invites applications from 
suitably qualified candidates with teaching and research experience in 
Media Studies, or related disciplines, to join a research-active, 
growing department at an internationally acclaimed institution.

Qualifications and experience
• A PhD in Media Studies or a closely related discipline
• An active and growing research agenda in media, communications and 
cultural studies. Specialisations in new media, communications in the 
global south, audiences and interactivity or quantitative approaches 
will be considered preferable.
• A growing publication record for a Senior Lecturer, and an established 
publication profile for Associate Professor
• Teaching experience in Media Studies from a critical orientation, and 
with the ability to teach across diverse theoretical areas and 
methodological approaches.
• Experience in postgraduate supervision.

Duties: Teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate 
levels; administration within the department and at School level; 
service to the Faculty and contributing to the research output of the 
University.

Remuneration: A competitive package will be offered depending on 
qualifications and relevant experience.

The successful applicant should be able to take up the position as soon 
as possible in 2013.
