We are inviting applications for a full-time AHRC PhD studentship in any
area of Digital Media OR Media History starting in September 2012.
The studentship will be located within the Communication and Media
Research Institute (CAMRI) - the UK’s number one research group in media
and communication as rated by the UK Government’s 2008 Research
Assessment Exercise, with a score of 60% 4*, 30% 3*, 10% 2*. We have
over 20 research active staff and more than 50 PhD students. We have a
wide and expanding range of research interests, but in the broadest
sense we are interested in the social, economic, political and cultural
significance of the media. For this studentship we welcome proposals
from prospective students on any topic related to digital media or media
history.
Eligible candidates will hold at least an upper second class Honours
degree and a Masters degree and must have a relevant connection with the
UK, normally consisting of minimum of three years residence for purposes
other than education.
The Studentship consists of a fee waiver and a stipend of £16,000 per
annum. Successful candidates will be expected to undertake some teaching
duties.
