You will be required to teach on a range of media, communications and cultural studies topics at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

You will have a completed PhD in a relevant subject (or equivalent experience), enjoy working collaboratively, and be passionate about both teaching and research. You should be able to demonstrate clear potential to contribute to this highly successful department’s research culture and output.

*Job Title: *Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Communication and Media Studies

*Job Description: *

This is a full-time, established post in the Department of Social Sciences.

*Job Purpose: *

To contribute to the overall research output of the department, and to teaching and administration connected with the undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in Media and Communications, and to such other activities in the Department as may be required.

*Duties: *

• The post holder will be expected to be highly research active and to make a full contribution to the maintenance of the department’s reputation for research excellence. She or he will have expertise and experience suitable for appointment in a department of social sciences and a proven record or demonstrable potential for research excellence of the highest quality. Staff are expected to develop their research programme and to undertake applications for external funding of research activity. They are also required to publish in outlets of international standing. Applications in any specialist area will be welcome.

• The post holder will contribute to teaching on both the undergraduate degree and postgraduate degrees in Media and Communications. She or he will also be willing and able to contribute to teaching relevant to other programmes in the department, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, including in particular the department’s Masters programmes in Media and Cultural Analysis and Global Media and Cultural Industries. It is expected that the post will entail the supervision of research students.

• Other responsibilities of the post holder will include: provision of pastoral support to designated personal tutees; provision of academic support and advice to undergraduate and postgraduate students; the supervision of third year undergraduate projects; engagement in the regular evaluation and development of modules for which she or he has responsibility in terms of content, delivery and assessment; helping to organize open days for prospective undergraduate students; other administrative duties that they may be called upon to perform.
