Postdoctoral Research Assistant on the 3-Year AHRC-Funded Research

'Make Me Laugh: Creativity in the British Television Comedy Industry'

The School is looking to appoint someone to work with Dr Brett Mills on
a 3-year AHRC-funded research project. Candidates should have experience
of empirical research work, including researching media industries
and/or audiences; good communication, interpersonal and team-working
skills; a PhD in the humanities or social sciences.
This project examines the nature of creativity within the British
television comedy industry through: engagement with those who work
within that industry via interviews, participant observation and two
workshops; the mapping of the development of specific projects and the
processes they go through towards completion or abandonment; the
analysis of both academic and policy literature on notions of
creativity, and the application and examination of that literature in
response to the primary research.
This full-time, fixed term post is available from 1 January 2012 until
31 December 2014.
UEA is one of the strongest universities in the UK in Film and
Television Studies, with a Research Assessment rating of 3.4 in 2008 and
thriving BA, MA and PhD programmes.
