Assistant or Associate Professor of Contemporary Art History and New Media
The Department of Art+Design at Northeastern University seeks a
scholar whose research informs and advances the topical domains of
Contemporary Art History and New Media. Areas of interest are aimed
at but not limited to transformations in media production and
consumption, event and spectacle as cultural artifact, and the
practice of design in interactive, social and new media or other
topical areas in contemporary arts and design. The successful
candidate will have a broad understanding of the interdisciplinary
nature of new media and present a vision of a creative research
context framed by internationally recognized intellectual domains.
An interest in collaborative research with studio practitioners,
design and other interdisciplinary faculties will be considered an
asset. It is expected that the successful candidate will
demonstrate a successful record of teaching excellence, grant
writing, and significant research/scholarship and publication
in the area of interest . He/She is expected tocontribute to
ongoing undergraduate and graduate pedagogical and curriculum
development, and participate in the service to the Department,
College and University. Ranked Professors are expected to teach 4
courses per year at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Qualifications
The qualified candidate will join Northeastern University at the
rank of tenured or tenure track Assistant or Associate
Professor. Appointments are preferred at the Associate Professor
level, but exceptional candidates with ABD or recent PhDs can be
considered for the rank of Assistant Professor. A terminal degree
is required and a PhD along with a record of publishing and
scholarship are strongly preferred.

research are preferred
Additional Information

February 15, 2011. Starting date for this position is anticipated to
be September 2011.
