The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane invites candidates for:

Position One: Lecturer/Assistant Professor of visual (print and online) communication and production. 
Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in visual communication and print and online production, including combined media concepts and theories, design composition, theories of representation interface design, experience design, graphic and multimedia design production and critique. The candidate will also conduct hands-on lab courses that will provide the vehicle for advanced exploration of design issues and concepts and through the use of Adobe suite software.  The candidate will also be expected to teach upper division courses in his/her specialty. S/he will hold regular office hours, and participate in extracurricular activities on a regular basis (e.g., internship supervision, thesis supervision, independent study, School committees, etc.). Scholarly research productivity and service to the program, the school, and university is expected.
Start date: January 2011 or September 2011.
Qualifications: Ph.D., M.F.A. or M.A required in Visual Communication, Communication/Graphic Design, or related fields; documented successful teaching experience at the college level. Applicants should demonstrate expertise in the practice, history and theory of visual communication and related field. Professional experience in communication industry (web agency, design studio, advertising agency) is highly valued.


Position Two: Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Promotional Communication and Public Relations with theoretical and professional background in Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC)
Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses within the Communication Studies Program such as Public Relations, Promotional Communication, Writing for the Media, Organizational/Corporate Communication. Students are Communication Studies majors or they come from a variety of disciplines across the university. The candidate will also be expected to teach upper division courses in his/her specialty. S/he will hold regular office hours, and participate in extracurricular activities on a regular basis (e.g., internship supervision, thesis supervision, independent study, School committees, etc.). Scholarly research productivity and service to the program, the school, and university is expected. Appointment: one full year appointment with the possibility of contract renewal.
Start date: January 2011 or September 2011.
Qualifications: Ph.D. or M.A. in the fields of advertising, public relations/mass communication or ABD (completion of all doctoral work required by February 1, 2012) demonstrated success or potential as a classroom teacher and potential research productivity. MA’s coupled with professional experience in public relations, and expertise in teaching interactive public relations in the online environment are highly valued. Interdisciplinary experience or interest is a plus.
