[Commlist] Workshop "Studying Indie Games"

Thu Feb 20 14:20:50 GMT 2020

Workshop "Studying Indie Games" (31 March 2020, NTNU Trondheim, Norway)

During the past decade, game studies has increasingly begun to explore
the phenomenon of so-called indie games, which commonly aim to
distinguish themselves from the mainstream of the video game industry
not just in terms of their financing and publishing models but also in
terms of their aesthetic form and the cultural work that they do.
Further contributing to this emerging field of research, the workshop
gathers a group of international scholars in order to explore the
diversity of current indie game production as well as the theoretical
and methodological challenges that arise from studying an object that is
still very much in flux.
