The Department of Communication at North Carolina State University invites applications for a Professor of the Practice in Media Arts and Production at the rank of Assistant, Associate,
or Full Professor beginning either January 1 or August 16, 2027.

The Department of Communication is seeking a collaborative scholar-practitioner who is passionate about advancing creative media production through innovative storytelling, emerging technologies, and critical inquiry. In this role, you will help prepare the next generation of media professionals by combining creative practice with meaningful engagement across the social, cultural, political, and technological dimensions of contemporary communication. You will contribute to a forward-thinking academic community by teaching media arts and production courses, helping shape the future of the department's media production curriculum, and fostering connections that extend beyond the classroom. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, partnerships with industry and community organizations, and leadership of shared creative spaces, you will play an important role in expanding the department's strengths in
digital media production, creative practice, and critical making.

*Key Responsibilities*

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in media arts and production, including areas such as film and video production, documentary and nonfiction storytelling,
transmedia storytelling, and other emerging forms of creative media.

Incorporate innovative approaches to storytelling and media technologies, including audiovisual, interactive, immersive, generative, AI-assisted, mobile, locative, social
media, installation, and game-based media, as appropriate to your expertise.

Contribute to the continued development and evolution of the department's media
production curriculum.

Coordinate instructional staffing for media production courses.

Provide oversight of the department's media lab and support an engaging learning
environment for students and faculty.

Develop interdisciplinary collaborations across NC State to expand opportunities for
creative scholarship and teaching.

Build and maintain partnerships with media industries, arts organizations, and community partners to strengthen experiential learning and public engagement.

Advance creative media production that encourages critical reflection, public
engagement, and innovative forms of communication.

Participate actively in departmental initiatives and contribute to a collaborative and collegial academic community.Join a department where creativity, critical inquiry, and emerging media converge.
