Thanks very much to everyone who has already submitted an abstract!

For the fourth consecutive year, the Discourse Research Association of Ireland (DRAOI) is thrilled to announce the return of our Summer Seminar Series, scheduled for July and August 2024. We are inviting proposals for presentations for this year’s series. In line with the inclusive ethos of DRAOI and the diverse pathways to discourse and discourse analysis represented by our membership, we welcome submissions focusing on discourse research in all its manifestations, including but not limited to:
• (Critical) discourse analysis/studies
• Discourse theory
• Sociolinguistics
• Pragmatics
• Multimodal and/or digital discourses
• Discourse, language, and ideology
• Discourse with a specific subject focus: e.g., economics, gender and sexuality, policy, government and politics, media, education, industry, sustainability and climate change, ethics, sociology, psychology, communication, etc.

DRAOI’s annual Summer Seminar Series provides a congenial, informal environment for discourse researchers to share their work, connect and network with fellow discourse-oriented scholars, and participate in enriching discussions on a wide array of topics. can expect constructive and supportive feedback in a positive setting when presenting works in progress. The presentation format will vary based on the submissions received and may include:

• An overview of a planned/in-progress research project or a summary of findings
• A book talk (at any stage of production)
• A summary of a recent publication
• A conference presentation (including those presented elsewhere)
• A workshop/tutorial on a specific disciplinary or methodological approach to discourse research
• An overview of a Master's or PhD thesis
• Creative proposals are also encouraged.

As in previous years, we prioritize talks from discourse researchers based in Ireland (north and south), with personal or professional ties to Ireland and/or who are focusing on discourses within the Irish context. Additionally, we are committed to showcasing the work of scholars from diverse backgrounds at any career stage or status, including postgraduate researchers, unemployed/unaffiliated researchers, as well as senior academics.

All seminars will be conducted online and are free of charge for both speakers and attendees. Details regarding the schedule of presentations for the 2024 series, along with links to join the virtual talks, will be circulated in due course on our mailing list, which you can sign up to on our website (discourseresearch.ie <http://discourseresearch.ie>)
