[Commlist] Publication announcement: ALPHAVILLE Issue 23 “Screening the Artist”

Fri Jul 15 11:55:30 GMT 2022

Issue 23 of /Alphaville: Journal of Film and Screen Media /devoted to “Screening the Artist” is now live at http://www.alphavillejournal.com/ <http://www.alphavillejournal.com/>

Edited by Saige Walton and Lucio Crispino at the University of South Australia, this issue’s articles are by Martine Beugnet (Université Paris Cité) and Kriss Ravetto-Biagioli (University of California, Los Angeles), Elena del Río (Professor Emerita of Film Studies), Nikolaj Lübecker (University of Oxford), Sarah Cooper (King’s College London), and Saige Walton (University of South Australia). Together, they explore the many ways in which artistic gestures are present in film, demonstrating how all efforts to invoke the artist and their work in the audio-visual media entail two entwined logics: an aesthetic of immediacy or mediation.

We are also delighted to announce that /Alphaville/has recently received the DOAJ Seal <https://doaj.org/toc/2009-4078>, awarded to journals that demonstrate best practice in open-access publishing, and that it is now a member of CLOCKSS <https://clockss.org/>, the community governed and supported digital preservation archive for scholarly content.
